❓ Superhero Party FAQs
What ages is this best for?
The kit is best suited for kids ages 8–10, but it can be adjusted for older or younger players depending on group dynamics.
How long does the party take?
The activities typically run for 1.5 hours, leaving a comfortable 2-hour window to allow for arrival, snacks, cake, and free play.
My child wants a Spiderman/Avengers/Batman or other superhero theme. Can I tie this in with their favorite characters?
Absolutely! The best part of this party is that it’s about creating a unique Superhero team for your child and their friends. The team can easily be turned into a Kids Superhero team assembled by their favorite character. Change out the script with their favorites and send them on their mission! Fun fact: This party is originally based on my own son’s Spiderman: No Way Home party.
Can I edit the clues?
Yes! Editable PDFs and PSD files are included for many clues and invitations so you can customize names, wording, or gameplay.
Do I need a Cricut?
No—everything can be cut by hand! But if you have a Cricut, you’ll find layered and scoring-friendly PNGs included for easier crafting.
Are physical items included?
This is a digital download only. You’ll need to provide your own materials, such as:
- Cardboard for building the brick wall and piñata
- Science/kitchen items to make the fizzy “cure”
- Nerf blasters, markers, and craft supplies
- Costumes, props, or accessories for characters
- Obstacle course items
How many adult participants are required for this superhero party?
You’ll need at least 3 adults:
- Dr. Paradox (The Host) – guides the kids through the adventure
- The Sandshifter – is cured during the potion test scene
- Dr. Kraken – defeated in the final “Stop the Doc” game
- Optional: A 4th and 5th adult can play:
- The Web Jumper – for the short video or walk around presence
- The Grinning Gobbler – for the short video and immersive villain energy (or use the mask prop only)
Can I simplify the superhero party?
Absolutely. You can scale it up or down based on time, space, or group size. Use just the scavenger hunt and cure game, or go full multiverse!
🛠️ Adapt the Mission: Age, Group Size & Camp Options
The Kid Defenders: The Great Multiverse Battle party is designed for ages 8–10, but it’s flexible enough to work with younger ages, a variety of group sizes and even summer camps! Here’s how to adjust the adventure for your specific setup:
🎂 Adapting the Party for Younger Heroes (Age 5-7)
- Simplify riddles or let an adult read them aloud.
- Mark clue and obstacle locations clearly.
- Offer help during potion testing and obstacle course navigation.
- Keep villain interactions playful and not too intense.
👥 By Group Size
Small Groups (4–6 Kids):
- Everyone can take part in each activity without needing teams.
- Combine villain roles (like The Sandshifter and Dr. Kraken) if needed.
- Tailor tasks so each child gets a chance to shine individually.
Medium to Large Groups (7–15 Kids or More):
- Divide into teams and assign different missions or potion items.
- Set up duplicate stations to keep the flow going smoothly.
- Add extra adult or teen helpers as villains or team guides.
🏕️ How to Adapt Kid Defenders for a Summer Camp
Transform this superhero scavenger hunt into a multi-station, multi-day camp adventure that builds teamwork, sparks creativity, and gives campers a mission they’ll never forget! Below is a list of day by day ideas and inspiration to expand the adventure.
🧪 DAY 1: Recruit & Train the Heroes
Theme: Introduction to the Multiverse Chaos + Training Camp
Activities:
- Create Hero IDs: Use the editable Clearance Card template for each camper. Let them decorate with their chosen hero name and powers.
- Obstacle Course Training: Set up agility-based challenges using pool noodles, cones, tunnels, or ropes—preparing them for multiverse action.
- Zap News Storytime: Introduce the villain chaos via printed “Zap News” articles and clues scattered around camp.
- Team Formation: Divide campers into Kid Defender teams with their own team names, logos (use the KD Logo), and chants.
🔍 DAY 2: Portal Clues & Potion Discovery
Theme: Riddle Solving & Magic Potion Ingredient Hunt
Activities:
🧩 Expanded Clue Hunt Begins
Campers receive riddles and scavenger hunt challenges from Zap News and Dr. Paradox. The clues are themed around villains and hidden portals, leading to mystical ingredients scattered across camp.
💡 Potion Ingredient Challenge
Campers complete physical tasks (like obstacle courses or target throws) to unlock or “earn” their potion ingredients—each ingredient is tied to a specific villain’s power.
🧪 Extended Potion Lab Experience
Turn your lab into a full edible experiment station! Campers mix multiple “cures” using safe kitchen ingredients and mystical labels. Each villain needs an extra potion:
- Sandshifter’s Sandy Serum: Edible kinetic sand
- Dr. Kraken’s Ocean Slushie: Blue sports drink or juice, red grape juice, crushed ice.
- Dr. Paradox’s Multiverse Cure: The main lemonade experiment with color-shifting magic (use butterfly pea flower)
Campers can test each potion for flavor and fizzy reaction (depending on age), learning cause and effect while pretending to “analyze” in the Kid Defenders Lab. Just like the original recipe, each potion recipe can have another item thrown into the mix (or purposefully mislabeled) to mess it up so this kids have to figure out what ingredient is wrong!
🎨 Optional Add-On: Create custom Potion Bottles using empty mini jars or cups labeled with the villain’s name and cure type.
🎭 DAY 3: Villains, Showdown & Portal Opening
Theme: Save the Multiverse!
Activities:
🧩Mission Briefing & Final Prep
- Mission Briefing Ceremony: Hand out final clue cards from Zap News or HQ. Recap what they’ve learned and what’s at stake.
- Potion Review Lab: Kids prepare or bottle their cure. Label vials as “Ready for Use” using the mystical labels.
- Costume Power-Up Station: Let kids add final touches to their Kid Defender costume—stickers, face paint, logo badges, etc.
🎭 Villain Encounters & Challenges
Each villain is a station, and teams rotate between them.
🎃 Blast-O-Lantern Dodgeball with all villains
- The kids face off against the Grinning Gobbler, Dr. Kraken, and the Sandshifter in this version of the party.
- The kids must race around the gym or field collecting the Grinning Gobbler’s blast-o-lanterns while avoiding the dodgeballs.
- Once the kids collect all of the blast-o-lanterns, The Grinning Gobbler is temporarily stopped and Dr. Kraken and the Sandshifter retreat to their zones.
🦑 Dr. Kraken’s Tentacle Trap
- A sensory obstacle course with stretchy ropes, pool noodles, or hanging fabric streamers as “tentacles” to dodge.
- Cure Delivery: Once through, they encounter Dr. Kraken and play the ball tossing game to neutralize him. Once he’s neutralized, they give the Kraken their ocean slushie potion and the multi-verse lemonade cure to “heal” him.
🏜️ The Sandshifter’s Puzzle Field
- A desert maze or clue-sorting challenge (sand trays, hidden items, simple riddles).
- Cure Delivery: Fill an empty tray with the edible kinetic sand and give The Sandshifter the multi-verse lemonade cure to drink
💡 Optional: Have villains dramatically “transform” once cured—remove a mask, cape, costume accessory, etc., smile, say thank you—so kids see the power of teamwork and compassion.
✨ Portal Finale & Time Box Showdown
🔮 Magic Portal
- Kids draw the Timeless Temple Symbol with chalk in a central spot by a large door.
- On the other side, add pool noodles, curtain streamers, or fabric to build a “magic arch.”
- Kids open the portal using their rings (while an adult opens the door from the other side (being careful not to be seen!)
- One by one (or as a team), kids step through.
⏳ Time Box Showdown
- The kids destroy the Magic Time Box Piñata with themed music playing—cheers, victory dance, confetti or glitter!
🎉 Wrap-Up Ideas
- Hero Graduation Certificates
- Photo Station with Lab & Portal Backdrops – Create a superhero photo booth with the KD frame.
- “News Broadcast” Recap – counselors act like Zap News reporters announcing the heroes’ success
- Freeze Pops or Treats – “Multiverse Medals” snack celebration
🖐️ Optional Add-Ons by Age or Group:
- Younger Campers (7–8):
- Add helpers at each station.
- Pre-cut crafts and simplify riddles.
- Older Campers (9–10):
- Have them take charge of leading stations or guiding younger teams.
- Add bonus challenges (like crafting extra accessories or decoding secret files).
- Large Groups:
- Run multiple potion labs or clue trails.
- Assign team captains or counselors as guides.
- Use staggered start times for smoother flow.
